Jared from Zen Hustlers

All right. Hey, good morning everybody. I'm Jared from setting hustlers. And we're super excited. Today, we're doing a live interview with JB the wizard. Before we get started, though, I just want to mention a couple of free things that we've got going on. On Zen hustlers calm. Because we're all working from home. I've got my kids running around the back room behind me. If you hear them, that's what it is. It's not some crazy people, their little children six and nine. So we created a work from home strategy guide. So how to create a space how to create boundaries, how to create some guidelines for you're setting up your schedule for the day. So if you head over to Zen hustlers COMM slash w f h work from home, you can download that free guide. And I hope that helps you out. Another free guide we have that we created a couple months ago before this all started was a routines and habits guide. It takes you every hour throughout the day of how you could theoretically structure a day from taking breaks, to exercising to eating to when to check email, when to work, and how to have a calm night before you go to bed. So that's our habits and routines guide. And just generally Zen hustlers is all about supporting entrepreneurs and founders to find balance on the edge in life. And that leads me to our guests. JB the wizard, thank you so much for joining us today.

You're welcome. So you're on the east coast. I'm on the west coast near Santa Cruz. I'll let you say a couple things. So JB and I connected on LinkedIn first, I love LinkedIn. I think it's an amazing place to connect with people, get to know them and then see who their next Work is and then connect with them. It is like the real virtual connection space that you can do anytime, anywhere in the world. And I love it, I love that I get a chance to like connect with people like JB over the internet. And then we get to speak over zoom and do some things digitally, which is really cool. So I know your background a little bit, but I'm gonna let you to do so. You work with CEOs and celebrities, you help them find their authentic self and their authentic voices breaking through blockages in their life that we're going to talk about and also finding alignment in their life so that they can have a more fulfilling career and hopefully, their entire life has expanded. So I'll let you kind of run with that intro a little bit. JB

JB The Wizard

Yeah, absolutely. Yep. That's what I do. That's where I focus. You know, I guess I want to start it on like, why CEOs and celebrities? Yeah, it tends to be, um, you know, my background as an actor, which we can get to that in a bit. I understand that. I'm sorry. I didn't That's kind of like what got me to this spot, I suppose, is that the CEOs are kind of the celebrities of the corporate world if you like and the thing that deals with school with celebrities is there is a feeling oftentimes of feeling alone, or being alone. Oftentimes getting misunderstood. All of those things are things that really I understand that area and how to help them get through that. Right so it's a really it's an area where I care a lot about Yeah, just notice a lot that a lot of problems come up you know, confusion or uncertainty or lack of clarity, or a sense of fulfillment calm, often that spot of not being understood or being accepted or feeling alone. So I care a lot about those people. So it turned out that they were CEOs and celebrities and then they're also they often tend to be the type of person who wants to continue to improve themselves. So that's something I identify a lot with. So that's that's what got me to that demographic, but It all started with my degrees in pre medical exercise physiology. But I've been an entrepreneur my entire life. I've never had a job. I've always had no companies or businesses. But um, my sophomore year in college, I got my first role in Hollywood film called radio. And so I knew I was going to be a television someday. But I also was fascinated with the body and like how it works super best without love it. And so so for a year ago, I got that role as a basketball player in the film called video in Cuba Gooding Jr. was in it here's Alfre Woodard was in it, and then I got it. So, you know, I continue. I did theater, right, because I heard that theater actors think a certain way about film actors. Directors, let me just do all of it and Simon theater that I did Shakespeare then I was asked to teach Shakespeare and acting at a university so I did that then I did motion capture voiceovers for Cartoon Network of musical theater. Um, I got my equity card directives off Broadway, actors were Lou Diamond Phillips, from CW network supernatural. And then I'm just kept on going. And then I know where to direct and attempt to direct and production company and I ended up getting connected with Transamerica who's a insurance company, they're like the pyramid people. Um, so San Francisco. So I feel their animation films around North America, and I was working with their executives and CEOs and that sort of thing. And as a director, my job is to help you or whomever feel comfortable in front of the camera, right? So as an actor, we feel comfortable in front of the camera, but what's going on? So a lot of people think acting is pretending. Acting is like super not pretending it's being present. It's being Right now it's being right here. And being honest in this moment being authentic. That’s what you pay to go watch you getting in touch with that part of you that you connecting with that part, that's human and you can feel that part of the person you're playing in that role. Because as a human, we've all experienced that base core emotions of sadness, fear, joy, exhilaration, anxiety. You know, so I've always approached I've never done acting, I've always been on the other side of the camera. I've done things like this, but I've never actually acted. Where does the name of the wizard come from?

When I'm working with, with people, we deal with mental blocks, right? When we get people in alignment and help them remove mental blocks. The result of that is, you know, money, gigs, relationships, everything opens up. So what happened was, I was working with this guy, we're on the call and he called me back up and this guy, Emmy Award winner, baby Ward, winner, Nike athlete, so he's not from covered Runner's World magazine is known to do Okay, but like stuff wasn't really fun for him over the past few years, he wasn't getting ready. So he called me up. And he said, What did you do? He said, What's going on? He said, My business is opening up. This has exploded. This has opened it up. And we didn't even talk about that. We just talked about me, we got me a lot. He said, What did you say that's it? I'm deleting your name from my phone. It's not I'm just putting the wizard. I feel like you are a wizard that lives in the side of a mountain and you pop out to talk with me. That's it. And so from that day, you got called up by a client to change their life so much. They had to call you the wizard that stuck.

Yeah, yeah. And then I started and then I say, Okay, I'll stick with it. Because theoretically, like what I do is very simple, but it's also hard to explain sometimes. Yeah, no, of course. Yeah.

Jared from Zen Hustlers

Yeah, all that I like it. That's why we're hustlers. It's simplistic simplicity. its complexity of the hustle. The hustle is complex. Right now figuring out your business model, figure out how you're gonna make it work. It can't be complex. The Zen is it's simple. You're having fun, you're doing your you're doing your purpose, you're living your life according to values and authenticity. That's the simple part in a way, like you said, right? To talk to me about mental blocks, have you found a couple areas in life? And one of the things I want to mention is like you're an entrepreneur, you've got all these different backgrounds of experience, like do you draw from that? Are you getting into their life about where they came from to get through these mental blocks?

JB The Wizard

Sure, sure. The main thing is, we're all people. So we're really literally like, all the same. And I learned that from my father. And so because of that, um, it's not so challenging. The main thing is like this, whatever it is that you think or whatever you've built up is something that you have built up. Yeah, like that's, that's the core foundation of another foundational belief is that you already have all the answers. So whomever I work with any human being, you already have all the answers. All right. do is help you to see what you already know. Like that's it. So therefore whenever I've gone through I think the where my experience has helped me to see is that I've seen that they were my own choices or beliefs that got me the results that I've got, like that's it. So therefore when it comes to other people is the same thing right now I've gone through a lot of horrible like difficulties which helps me when other people are going through them to say, Hey, I get what that could feel like no, that's all we have to do is this to get out of it? Yeah. So that’s to that extent is where I pull from my own but again, the human You know

Jared from Zen Hustlers

I'm gonna add to your your Mystique is the wizard that you pull back the curtain that is already running, and you are the wizard because you get to pull back the curtain on their life that they already have within them. And there's that facade of the big wizard and this you know, whether it be the CEO, the founder, like that big image of the actor, the celebrity that has to put up that facade for the world, often to protect their own personal life, you know, which is like a safety mechanism to protect who you are. I'm always fascinated with the actors who have this. You see some of the spotlight, and then you see some horror just like you never hear about them. They have this super protective way. And I imagine some CEOs are like that, too. Yeah. Do you have the same process that you do with each person? Or is it more individual coaching? Like, what is your Can you give us a little snippet into the process?

JB The Wizard

Yeah, so um, everything is very customized to each individual. Yeah, the general idea again, is that you've got the answers already and what I created a few different things. One thing is called the atomic core. So your atomic core is the fire inside of you that's burning. So just like a submarine has an atomic reactor in there that allows it to continue to operate at sea without coming back in for recharge. Yeah, you're the same way. So when we get you in alignment, it's like getting your spine in alignment, so that we can see down into your tummy Okay, so now, typically, when we're trying to access the atomic core, we can't see it because things are out of alignment. So we need to get, find that balance, get in the mind and figure out what you, you know, care about what motivates you that sort of thing, right? So the steps to get into that as a conversation just like this, a few questions, you figure out, what are you naturally good at, let's say, right? What do you care about what all of that is different, but what I have to listen for, I would say 70% of the conversation on the call is then talking. And then a little bit of myself talking. So what I'm listening for is what they're actually saying. Like, what's what? Yeah, what's really going on? Right? Yeah. And so, um, what typically happens is that when we find that truth, come out and realize, whoa, I always think it's beautiful, right? So it's like, oh, my gosh, that's amazing. What typically happens is, these people have been told that they're either extreme or crazy or not. It's not really possible or that's too big. And that's a little weird, and that sort of thing. So once they get that understanding that acceptance was really happening, they allowed themselves to go there, and then more opens up. And then what I do practically, is show them. Here's how to bring that to life. Somebody's gonna say, I've always wanted to be an Olympic blank, blank, blank. So what I look for is how do we bring that to reality, whatever that might be. Because there's a if you've wanted to be an Olympic swimmer, what I have to figure out is, what did you actually always really want to be? Because we think of it that you want to be an Olympic swimmer, maybe you want something else. So when it comes to exercise, sometimes people or fitness, people might think I need to have potato chips, but it could literally be that they are deficient in vitamin C and need a little bit more of sodium. But all they know is potato chip. So when somebody says, Yeah, no, I want to be CEO, I want to make a billion dollars. Do you really or I want to make it million dollars on this Do you really? Right? So if you do you do great if you don't, you know, we just have to find out the truth is and then bridge the gap.

Jared from Zen Hustlers

Do you find that the authenticity align it is it is that that alignment with your deeper values and that emotional core that you're trying to seek your truth. Because I've been reading a lot about finances and we're starting a money section on the blog and on the website. And that money equals we're trying to reach an emotional part of our lives. There's something we're trying to find emotionally. And that's more in line with our touch our authenticity and our values. There's two things that teach them money and we do a lot of money blocks. So yeah, one thing is a big, huge thing is huge. We all have a story about money, all of us. Absolutely, absolutely.

A big thing is a quote that I say. I say that time is very expensive, the money is very cheap. So understanding that is cool is key, and then to understand that Another thing is that money is the lowest form of energy exchange. It's the lowest form of energy. That doesn't mean low like good bad, high low, it means no form. So what I usually bring up is like a Tesla when you're charging it the cables like that thick, right? Yeah. Whereas like iPhone cable is like really thin. So if you tried to charge your, your, your iPhone with Tesla charger, your iPhone would pop. Pop, right. So what happens is you need to lower form of energy exchange in order to adequately supply power to the iPhone. So money does that, which is what makes time very expensive. You and I can only be here right now. But then if I were able to reproduce myself in a different way, it becomes cheaper, cheaper. So video is a way to send my son for free with YouTube for free. So that's very cheap, easy. Yeah, cuz, right so we're using that technology. So with money, money can be in many locations where we cannot so we can help somebody in China or California by using money which is a lower form of ours. It's a piece of ourselves in that flow. interesting when you understand all of that. And then we understand what your alignment is and what your tonic chord is, we then have to look at how we want to either Express utilize the most energy exchange, or how do we exchange what we're doing for that lower form of energy exchange. So what that means is, how do we want to use our money going out? And how would we like to receive it? Once we understand that there needs to be an energy exchange, that means receiving money for whatever it is that you do whatever value that you provide, you then figure out how to charge for your services, how to charge for whatever it is that you do, how to get the compensated for what you create or right because you know that you're putting out a particular level of energy and the voltage is going to be based upon what is not going to blow somebody up or not charge somebody good enough.

Exactly. So like well, how about somebody one on one that's different than somebody buying a book on it? Right? So that just has to do with energy exchange. And not just, well, it's not me. So it's cheaper. It's really it's a small dose of me. Right? So the book that I wrote was a small dose of me if people get that little dose, and they like it, or they can handle it, or they do.

Jared from Zen Hustlers

Tell us about the book a little bit, yes, five, hundreds of five principles of alignment. Okay, so, yeah, if I could want to go through just to give us a quick five?

JB The Wizard

I don't have the book yet. But there are a few foundational initial beliefs. Yeah, but the book is like, that's smart. That's smart. Right? That's the hustle right there. That's like the book. Yeah.

Jared from Zen Hustlers

Like, that actually goes to my next question is that like, a lot of people think, oh, buy a book. I'll go to a seminar all I'll even have, you know, like, I want One on One talk with somebody. It's like, it's gonna take multiple steps to get people on the journey. And I fell into that trap. When I first started that journey of self exploration is like, Oh, I did this, I'm good. And it's like, No, you need a coach, you need a one on one, you need a community to support you to be accountable to So I joined the mankind project. And I have a community of men around the world that support me as a man in the world. And so, you know, I wanted to talk about some of the pitfalls of the DIY model, do it yourself, buy the book, and you'll be good. And I think it's just unfortunately, like, not the way to go. You really need people at your back. You need a coach, you need someone to help you break through that. Because the blind spots of our shadow part of us there's real like, and the mind and the ego do not want us to see those parts. They're hidden from us. Right, you know, so I think if you wanted to talk a little bit about why do you think it's important to be working with someone directly?

JB The Wizard

Yeah. So one of the quotes One of the things I say Is everybody needs a mirror to see the back of the head. I like that. So yeah, so the mirror is the coach and it's like, you know, the, the better I get the more I even look for different differences. I skateboard right, so I love it every day.  Yeah, that's crazy. So, so, um, you know, so when it comes to that, the better more confident I get with particular tricks. It makes me you know, want to work with the coach even more. You know what I mean? Yeah. So, you're just so I didn't always know this. I mean, I did not know this. I'm a very driven result that the guy gave me a saxophone, a guitar and languages and all this stuff here. But as I don't know how to say that you do reach a limit to how far you can go. And it's it's really hard to admit that to say that, but let me just help anybody out there. It struggled, the way I dealt the way I did when it came to accepting that

system health because it's again, the heart. The main thing is like this, I look at Michael Jordan, or Michael Phelps, who's near Baltimore. Yep. Any Olympian has a coach, you know, I mean, and I did martial arts as a kid, and I did football track, you know, in all these different sports, and I always had a coach. And when I realized, wait a second, I had a coach in that area. What about a coach in this area? What about a coach in this area? So a lot of like, it really surprised me in a good way that, you know, my clients are high performers right there, their top people, they always consider themselves the best, whatever they're doing, they're the best edit. So I noticed that they would often have two or three other coaches as well. And so the person that really helped me to hone in and that's a very, very clear what it is that I do, because someone who would have leadership coaches speaking coaches, some kind of life coaches have like that, then With a fitness coach ever Yeah, yeah, yes. Wow. Okay great. Just like we're, you know, where do I fit in? It's like, well, this, some people have really like spiritual coach or I'm just a wizard just to get rid of any little blocks because some people gain from the blocks in order to do those things. So I would help them to get up early to do the things.

Jared from Zen Hustlers

So how in that mindset, let's say you're meeting someone new, how do you frame your work? Specifically, you as a coach as the wizard?

JB The Wizard

Yeah, so so my process is, if I met like on the street or like this, it looks like you went to a conference. You met someone there. You know, hey, I've got a coach. I've got a financial coach. I've got a fitness coach. How do you feel like you fit in? I would say good congratulations. Asked like, what do you do and how could you? How I do I would just tell them to that I help people remove metal blocks and get alignment so that business blocks are starting to go. So typically, people tend to feel that there's something more, they don't quite know what it is, it tends to feel a little bit frustrated, they know they've got potential, but they're not quite reaching it. And when it gets to a point where striving, craziness even a little bit painful, then that's usually when people engage with me. And then when they're ready to engage, I say, you know, message my system, and then there's a whole process to see I'm very selective with whom I work with. Yeah, I'm again and the reason for that is not even like to make myself more valuable. It's just that I know what I do works, period. Like it's just it's really amazing. But if you don't do it, if you don't jump to this, it's like dropping in when you're skateboarding. If you're on a coping and you don't, if you don't drop in full weight, you will literally die instantly, right?

So bad you're never gonna it comes to like, you know, engaging me it's like Are you really ready? Or is it like, you wish? Or maybe it will or it's not bad enough? You're looking for those people on that cusp of like, change? Yeah, I would say this is somebody who somebody was saying, you know, why is change so hard for people? And I'm like, you know, change is painful. And you've got to be at the point in your life where you need to change, not I want to change that I wish to change, I have to make a change. And that's what helps people get through that challenge point of like, Man, it's gonna be scary and hard. But like, ya know, I really don’t need a sense of urgency, right? And I think in the world right now, this is a great moment in the world for the human evolution because like, there is such a sense of urgency for people. At this moment. I think I'm really confident that it's, it's a moment of human evolution. And we're in the middle of it. So it looks really crazy chaotic, but it's going to set us on a new path. And the world will change a little bit and it will be different because there is a sense of urgency for people right now.

You know, Yeah, during I did a few talks upon COVID-19 conversations on the Instagram page. And I said like, this is, this is the time to get in on like, this is your opportunity. I said, because usually when people tend to refocus got it, they go on vacation, they go to Maui. Yeah. And

then they get focused up, but the world is still going. What happened during COVID was remarkable in that, like, everything stopped, like, are you going to have that luxury to be able to like self reflect again. And so my concern, really is that as things normalize, or as things get, you know, come back, you're losing your opportunity, like big time, and there is a lot of money to be made. There's a lot of emotional money because time is expensive to be made with yourself, there's a lot that can just open up and shift into your alignment. When you're in your alignment. All of your effort is leveraged. It's literally like whatever it took you make money before it's one 10th effort, you're having 10 times the joy, you know,

Jared from Zen Hustlers

Nothing is easy, but you don’t know the hard work should be enjoyable because you're actually putting your effort into something respect and value. Right? and hard work feels good. I mean, I've two sons, and I teach them that, like, you put your effort into something, and you should be proud of what you did. And you spent time and effort to do it and look back and say, this is a good thing. Oh, this was already working for a neighbor. And he's learning the value of like, time for money work for money. What can you buy once he has money? So it's like, there's all these little micro lessons as a parent, but I get to see it as an adult, like, oh, wow, I get to use it on myself now as an adult, is it what am I doing with my time? So this is one of the ways I get back to the community and support itself through Zen hustlers because I get that founders, entrepreneurs, CEOs, celebrities, where wherever it is, there's something going on, where they're out of balance, and they're not enough alignment and that's why, you know, we're selective on who we put on our blog, and we put on our channels because they have to kind of be living the life that we're looking working towards people that have high energy or productive or efficient, but they also have that sense of balance internally. So that brings us kind of towards the close, we want it. So what would you like people? What's a parting wisdom? What's the things you'd like if people want to follow or find out more about you or follow you? Or would you like to send them a couple of those areas?

Sure. Go to http://futurewiththewizard.com

Future. wizard.com. Okay, well, we'll put it on the open a link. Yeah. The Wizard calm.

And then I can follow. The Wizard is real on Instagram as well. And the parting wisdom is you've got all the answers already. Like you already have them. Yeah. And just to remember that to know that, you know, and if you can take that jump, or take that step. Let's say you don't even take a step just I mean, the jump is just take a small like one step in direction. You know, regardless coaching just like Jared was saying that if you feel if you've made a decision, you're decisive, and you know what you have to do, you just need a little bit of support with it and get the support. Yep. But alignment is key. And the thing that's positive is when you get that alignment, you're tapping into atomic core.

Jared from Zen Hustlers

Even when you're doing 10 times the work, it feels like one 10th of whatever you're doing right now. Yeah, that's a big one. I like that. All right, cool. Thank you. I like is I'm Jared Brick, so it's fun. First off, it was like Jimmy, you get to be the wizard. People call me breaker breakouts.

Yeah. You come into the Commodores. You know, all these little things like it seems silly, but it's like, it's memorable. It's fun and it's energy right and it brings real energy. I think not enough people are bringing that into their work and in the middle. I have like, it's okay to have fun as an adult, have fun with your business. Like, don't take this shit. So seriously, we're one little speck in the universe, like, have fun with this one life you've been given and don't like, take on the weight of the world, especially right now in the universe. You know, like, enjoy this thing where people tend to what futurism is about, I created a story.

We'll get into that, the main thing is like to get to be in the present with the future that you desire. So being here in the present, and so instead of working hard, so that you can even make sure that this whole process is also enjoyable, because it can be Yeah, that's a big one I want people to know is like, you don't have to work hard here so that here, you can enjoy it, you can enjoy the entire way.

And I've heard that and you've heard that we've read it and we've seen it but you have to embody that in some fashion. I think working with yourself or a coach or doing some breakthrough seminar course. And then getting support along the way because that stuff's going to come back up is the key. hearing it once and seeing it once you get a little glimmer right, you get that little Sure. Yeah, that feels right. That does feel right. But where's that support system behind you? to get you to that next step to keep having those mental blocks be broken down to expose that tonic core? I'm gonna adopt that. It's love that. Yeah, I love. So thank you so much for your time. I so appreciate you. I love the work you're doing. Enjoy the rest of your day. I don't know what you're doing with the rest of your day. But please spread the good love and the good wealth around right?
